“When I look at a person, I see a life, a heart, unlike any other. Each individual I draw has known trauma, growth, fulfillment, companionship, sexuality, identity, humor, and love in their own way. This is precisely why I will never love another subject more. If I can portray someone in a way that they identify with, then I consider that a massive victory, and a cause for celebration. I want the places where the paper shows through to be their soul, and the shadows that I sculpt across them to bear their memories. And though I can’t control my audience’s response, I yearn for my passion to reverberate through them like earthquakes.”
That being said, my fascination often spills over , beyond telling the stories of others, into writing narratives of my own. And, of course, being a visual artist, I can’t help but illustrate these writings at times. Here are some selected moments where I’ve indulged in such expression.
